Gov. Perry Wise to Accept Stimulus Funds, Must Follow the Money

With no lack of criticism coming to Texas Gov. Rick Perry the past several days over his decision to accept stimulus aid, we must remember that we too, as Texans, are facing sluggish economic times. There is no doubt Houston, and Texas in general, has been spared the wrath of the recession felt country-wide and beyond, however Texas would, and will be able to advance out of this slump, and bounce back stronger than before with federal aid received.

While neither he, nor I, have changed our views on the stimulus package and President Obama's horrible methods for recovering for a recession, the estimated $17 billion that will make its way inside the Lone Star State will be openly welcomed and equally appreciated.

One might say this creates a double standard when bashing the Democrats for their lavish and downright outrageous spending habits, however there are clear differences between an administration that inherited a $1.3 trillion deficit over years (plural) and will spend more than that amount in 2009 (year - singular), and a fiscally conservative state, led by Gov. Perry, who can use this opportunity to wisely better our great state in many sectors.

From easing the burden of college costs for families, to decongesting our heavily clogged inner-city highways, there is a register the size of Santa Claus' naughty list on ways we can "shop smart" with our funds, and not letting the federal monies end up in cumbersome government programs that end up seeking more money in the long run.

A common misconception about the administration's spending package and its naysayers is that no matter what President Obama does, the Republicans will oppose. Not true.
Spending money to build back a strong economy is fine. Spending like a wild teenager who just got introduced to a credit card with no monetary limit is not fine. Supporting liberal organizations that aided in your election, giving financial wheelbarrows of aid to plans and projects that will not stimulate the economy and create substantial employment, and printing more and more money, while devaluing our American dollar, is not okay with us and should not be okay with you - the American taxpayer.

To Mr. Perry, some simple tips on making the most of this project.
First and foremost, remember you serve us - the Texas citizens. As simple the statement, it appears it is a forgotten thought to many in Washington that they serve us, and they answer to us. Political leaders such as yourself represent the American people and in doing so keep in mind that this money is about improving the economy and bettering life for us, the American people, and us, Texans.
Secondly, transparency and public influence are key. Please though, not the Obama-esque transparency that leaves billions of the economic spending package dollars vaguely placed in the "Other" category on the Recovery.gov website. Mr. Perry in part has already proved this point, noting that if he finds there is funding that could be spent in a way that would create more harm than good, "[I] would be opposed to using those funds."
Finally, we have become a society that thinks much ado about nothing when referring to anyone, and anything but ourselves. Projects and developments that can have a beneficial impact not only for us, but for future generations and future Texans, will show the true ideology and values of you, and conservatives alike.

The ball is in Govenor Perry's court. It's his time. If he follows the money and is wise with his decisions - two very simple concepts - the plusses of the acceptance of the stimulus aid and its fiscal and practical use will far outweigh the current minuses in Washington.

A Grown Man Cries for America

I've only seen a grown man cry once in my life. It was my dad, when my grandpa - his father - died.
I'll never forget that day when I realized that when something you love so much goes away, it affects you. Deeply.
And despite all the sayings that grown men don't really cry, and to butch up and take it "like a man," yesterday I encountered again that those myths aren't true.

Yesterday I cried. For America.

I was driving yesterday evening when I heard on the radio that the $825 billion "stimulus" had been passed.

It was then that I had experienced something I have never experienced before.
I felt like I'd been shot and I was just sitting there bleeding. Doing nothing.
I felt as though time stood still. I felt as though the world stopped turning, just for a minute.
Over 24 hours later, I still can't comprehend that feeling - a possible mixture of sadness, outrage, anger, despair, helplessness - all at once.

It's as if everything we as Americans had worked so hard for has gone away in one simple bill signature.
As if the American Dream was gone.
As if our image had been stained for good.
As if our voices were silenced.

Yesterday, the liberals and President Obama said "to hell" with America.
"To hell" with ethics, "to hell" with fairness,"to hell" with balance, "to hell" with the American dollar...
But most importantly, to hell with you, the American citizen.
And to hell with your kids, your families, your friends, your life, and your American freedoms, hopes, and dreams.

In my lifetime (dating back to 1989), I have never seen such a corrupt group of liars, cheats, and thieves in Washington.

In a "stimulus package" that was full of liberal propaganda, payback for groups and organizations that donated to Obama, and senseless and useless funds to undeserving groups, the politiscammers in office claimed to care about the state of America's economy, and their hopes to get more jobs back in the market.

But instead of funding the military, cutting corporation taxes, providing financial stability to banks and institutions - just to name a few actual necessities - your liberal chiefs gave you lawn care and condoms. Oh, and funding to people that do not impact this economy.

Not worried about inflation.
Not caring about bankruptcy.
Not tingled about a depression.
Not panicked about your future.

Like kindergarteners at recess - not a care in the world.

I see America - my country, my home, my love - and how everyday the liberals are turning it in to the next Mexico wasteland.
I worry for what is on the liberal agenda, and what America will be a year, two years, four years from now.
A caller to Mark Levin's show tonight - a Democrat - said to give Obama a chance, and that if the stimulus doesn't work, "we can try it again," and that "we can't run out of money." That should strain every muscle in your body. That's how the left functions - without common sense.

Now more than ever is the need for you to speak up, have your voice heard, and do not let America become what Washington, Locke, Franklin, Adams, and the others did not intend America to be - a socialist state with big government.

"Thank you" to every single GOP member with a brain and a conscience who voted against this. An even bigger "thank you" to the 11 Democrats who saw the light and did not drink the Kool-Aid.
Rep. Jim Cooper, a Democrat, told the USA Today, "Congress took his ideas and then added too many of our pet projects and wish lists."

Eventually, Obama and the left will see that providing Internet access for rural folk and giving condoms to teenagers will NOT solve our problem. But will that time come too little, too late?

Now More Than Ever, Not the Time to Surrender to the Stimulus

Glenn Beck made a great point on his Fox News program yesterday.
He showed that if the $825 billion dollars that is being proposed as the total amount for the latest "stimulus" package were to be evenly distributed amongst all homeowners, each person would get around $17,000.
Now, that is a stimulus for America.

I don't want sex ed program funding and initiatives that scream "pro-Abortion" in my stimulus package. I don't want a stimulus package AT ALL! Internet access to rural towns? Rebuilding schools?
How about instead of sending money to people that do not pay taxes, you slash corporate taxes so corporations can hire more, retain more, and serve more people?
Provide money and "support" for food banks? $1 billion for the 2010 Census? Now is not the time to be worried about counting people, and with all due respect, worried about people who did not contribute to this recession.

This is a liberal wish list full of Democratic Candyland dreams.

It's amazing to see how little common sense and how little intelligence the left has.
Know that you're not alone, and yes, this stimulus ridiculously large and pointless sack of pork and fat will not work, cannot work, will lead us to inflation, and will do nothing to stimulate you, me, or the old geezer down the street.
